 "A Shropshire Lad"

by A. E. Housman
Adapted and directed by Ara Barlieb

Feb. 20 - 22, March 1
Charles Brown Icehouse
56 River Street
Bethlehem PA

Crowded Kitchen Players has revised 'A Shropshire Lad', one of their most critically successful shows.
Kathy Lauer wrote in her Morning Call review of the 2014 production that, "The cast fills the stage with energy as the assortment of farmers, barmaids, soldiers, widows, lovers, murderers, constables, drunks and ghosts attempt to draw a young poet into the festivities."
Lehigh Valley Stage's Ellen Blickman called it, "An exquisite production from start to finish," adding, "This play is not just for lovers of theater and of poetry but for all who have become a little cynical with life. It restores our hope, and reminds us, that life is meant to be lived."
Almost all the dialogue is lifted directly from Housman's original 63 poems and crafted into conversations and monologues that tell stories, portrays lives, and depict triumphs and tragedies that portray dashed dreams and lost loves.

Downtown Bethlehem's New Holiday Musical!

Pennsylvania Youth Theatre celebrates the happiest season of all with Christmas City’s Holiday Spectacular!

BETHLEHEM, PA—Pennsylvania Youth Theatre brings the magic of Radio City to downtown Bethlehem with Christmas City's Holiday Spectacular! running from December 5 to 21, 2014. The 90-minute, family-friendly musical presents 10 striking sequences ranging from a fantastical trip to Toyland with Mother Goose to a poignant re-telling of one of Dickens’ classic tales all within the context of a bustling mall adventure. Audiences will travel from Bethlehem to dinner with the Rockwell Family in 1949 and a complete television Holiday Cavalcade. A trip around the world allows theater goers to experience cultural celebrations such as Hanukkah and Kwanza. Tickets are on sale now for the performance taking place at the Charles A. Brown Historic Ice House, within walking distance of many of the city’s other holiday festivities.

Christmas City's Holiday Spectacular! marks several firsts for Pennsylvania Youth Theatre:

· Actors will wear more than 400 costumes, ranging from classic Santa Claus to whimsical tutus, elf hats to British period attire.

· Moravian College musicians will provide live music, playing carols you’ll recognize such as “Jingle Bells” and “Deck The Halls,” plus catchy new ones that you’ll be humming on the way home.

· Can't make it to Radio City this year? Come watch it snow on stage inside the historic Charles A. Brown Ice House!

Professional Actors come together with more than 70 students at Pennsylvania Youth Theatre for Christmas City's Holiday Spectacular! The show was written and directed by John Anker Bow, accomplished Director and Teaching Artist at PYT. Original orchestrations by Stephen Faubel, choreography by Camille Armstrong and costumes by Bill Bauman bring this holiday tale to life. "I learned so much about the diversity of December traditions while writing this show,” says Bow. “There really is a little something for everyone."
